Then Sings My Soul: Cherished Memories from the Wesleyan Gospel Choir Loft

The Wesleyan Gospel Choir at Savannah State University has been more than just a choir-it’s been a family, a ministry, and a safe place for many of us to worship, grow, and create lifelong memories. Whether you joined as a freshman just learning the ropes or as an upperclassman who helped lead the group in song and spirit, the experiences we had together are unforgettable.

The Power of Shared Worship

The sanctuary or the stage didn’t matter—when the Wesleyan Gospel Choir came together, the Holy Spirit moved. From our very first rehearsals to our final performances, there was always something electric about our voices blending in harmony. Many alumni recall those goosebump-inducing moments when it felt like Heaven touched earth.

Laughter, Long Nights, and Lasting Friendships

Behind the scenes, the choir was just as powerful. Late-night rehearsals, inside jokes, impromptu praise breaks, and road trips for performances created strong bonds. Many of us made lifelong friends—or even met our future spouses—through this ministry.

Your Voice Still Matters

We invite all Wesleyan Gospel Choir alumni to share their favorite memories. Use the comments below or email us to have your story featured in an upcoming post. Let’s honor the roots that shaped our voices and our lives.

Whether it’s been 5 years or 25 years since you sang your last note at SSU, your memories are part of a beautiful legacy. Keep singing, keep remembering, and stay connected.
